Doggie Daze 12 – FAQ

San Antonio Hash House Harriers proudly present the Dirty Dozen Doggie Daze camp out in Seguin, Tx. Aug 5-7.  Event price is $69. You have until July 22 to sign up.  Numbers have to be in for gimmees, food, beer and such.  You are a hasher, you know the drill!  All info is posted at http://www.sah3.com/events/doggie-daze/.  If you would like to pay by snail mail then email Te-Killya Tits or send a message using the contact link.

We’ve been getting a lot of questions regarding Doggie Daze, the obstacle course and such so here are some Q & A’s:

Q: About the obstacle course, how dirty will I get?
A: Dirtier than when your momma birthed ya.  You’ll be in mud, water, flour, crawling, rolling, etc., so wear river shoes (running, Teva style, Vibram’s) and clothes you don’t care if you get stained. We will supply you with swim goggles so ya don’t get mud in your eyes.

Q: I can’t swim, can I do the obstacle course?
A: Yes!  The water will only be ankle/waist/belly deep.

Q: I’m not competitive, should I do the obstacle course?
A: Of course you can do the course!  Ya want a “dirty” patch don’t ya?  This is all hasher friendly.  The course is short but action packed and loads of dirty fun for all.  There will be two heats. The first for the Turkey Trailers (slow joggers, walkers) and the second for the Eagles ( runners, FRB’s).  This will allow for picture taking, people to hold on to dogs (must be on leash during course and course is not dog friendly), and to re-supply the course.

Q: Can I bring haberdashery from another kennel to sell?
A: Sure thing.  Saturday during breakfast is a good time to set that up.

Q: Are there showers, toilets and power?
A: There is the river, porta potties and a few people are bringing generators. (People bringing generators need to be on the outskirts of the camp ground to keep the mind-numbing noise down for all of the other “trying to pass out” folks.  Be smart!  Share generators/extension cords to plug fans in and/or get a battery powered fan.

Q: Can I do my own BBQ?
A: Usually that would be a yes, but Guadalupe County has a burn ban AND a BBQ ban so please just bring cold fixins for your Friday meals.

Q: Will there be coffee?
A: Yes, but it takes about 45 minutes for 100 cups to brew so if you aren’t around for the first batch, bring another source of caffeine.

Q: I’m new to the Doggie Daze experience.  What do I bring?
A: 1. Camping/tent stuff -pop up campers are welcome (No RV’s- they may not pass through low water crossing dip)
2. Flashlights/head lamps
3. Sunscreen/sunglasses/hat
4. River shoes
5. Ivy Block (just in case). Course and trails are treated but some people are very sensitive.
